Partners’ JumpStart

In the recovery process, the spouse of the addict is often on the outside, while the addict receives treatment.

“I’ve really moved on, why can’t you?” the addict is often heard to express. This leaves the spouse fuming, and confused, “Why am I to blame for your destructive behavior?” In addition, the spouse often finds herself searching through cell phone records, credit card and computer history, and even more extreme measures of “inspector gadget.” Now, the partner’s addiction has become the addict.

Often the spouse receives the blame for the addict’s behavior. And more often than not, the spouse takes the acting out behavior personally, and redoubles her/his efforts to please the addict.  This intensive will prepare the spouse to focus on strengths, and positive limit setting.
